What P Means
La Cornue’s manual documents [P] as the Power Boost indicator on its induction hobs, showing that a cooking zone is running at additional power beyond level 9, typically to bring a large pan of water to the boil quickly. It is a function indicator, not a problem.
Common Causes of P
- The control knob turned clockwise past level 9 on purpose to activate Boost
- A neighboring zone briefly showing a flashing 9 while the hob’s electronics reduce its power to stay under the hob’s combined maximum while Boost is active on another zone
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
No action is needed — Boost runs for a maximum of 10 minutes per the manual before the hob automatically reduces that zone to level 9. It can also be turned off early by turning the control knob to a lower setting.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- This is a documented function of the hob, not a problem to correct, and clears on its own or with a simple knob adjustment.
