Moving a La Cornue to a property on propane, or the reverse, means refitting the correct orifice at every gas-fed part on the range — not adjusting a knob. It is technician work, and getting it wrong looks exactly like a worn burner.

A smell of gas around a La Cornue range is not a problem to diagnose over the phone. It is a safety condition with one correct sequence: leave the controls alone, ventilate, and call from outside the house.

A La Cornue burner that clicks and sparks without catching is one of the most common calls we get, and the burner cap — not the igniter — is the first thing checked, because it is by far the most frequent cause.

Look for an error code on a La Cornue and you will usually find nothing to look for. Most Château and CornuFé ranges are mechanically controlled, with no display at all, and that changes what a service call actually looks like.
